Gibraltar will celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee with a special street festival on 2 June. An adaptation of the Calentita food festival, Jubilita is a community celebration that will be open (with no entry fees) to all, including both residents and tourists visiting Gibraltar at the time.
Taking place in three of Gibraltar’s city squares – Theatre Royal Square, John Mackintosh Square and Campion Park – Jubilita will celebrate each era of Queen Elizabeth’s reign: Coronation and Silver Jubilee, Golden Jubilee and Platinum Jubilee.
According to the government, those attending the event will be invited to follow a foodie and historical trail through Gibraltar city. “Each square will offer its own unique and delicious dishes that reflect the period being celebrated, bringing together Gibraltar’s unique cultural identity, our ties with the United Kingdom and the Royal Family. Decorations, light entertainment, music and other delights will also be on offer.“

The program of events also includes an exhibition produced by Gibraltar National Archives.
“Gibraltar’s loyalty to Her Majesty is unquestioned,” said minister for culture John Cortes. “The Queen has been an anchor, and an inspiration for Gibraltarians for decades, and we have always celebrated such joyful occasions with great enthusiasm. We have an opportunity to celebrate once again and to enjoy these events as a community, showing our continued affection and support for Her Majesty.”
