Gibraltar will have a new emergency services number from next Monday (18 March). Currently, both residents and visitors are required to phone the number 190 for ambulance or fire services, and 199 or 112 to contact the police.
However, from 18 March, according to the U.K. Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office travel advice website, the number to call in an emergency will be changed to 999 followed by:
- option 1 for police
- option 2 for ambulance
- option 3 for fire
On its “Getting Help” page, the office recommends that travellers contact their insurance company quickly if referred to a medical facility for treatment; or their travel provider and insurer if involved in a serious incident or emergency abroad. “They will tell you if they can help and what you need to do.”
